A crash involving a garbage truck claimed the life of one and injured five other people.
The accident occurred on Monday, July 10th in Hiwassee, Georgia.
The driver of the dump truck, 68-year-old Charles Farmer, was negotiating a curve when his truck had a possible mechanical issue.
The truck hit 63-year-old Mark Savage’s car head-on, killing Savage at the scene. His son-in-law, Jeremey Dalton, and grandsons Hinton, 11, and Gabe, 10, were also in the car.
“It’s disturbing how often commercial truck crashes could have been prevented by better training, and simply following the federal regulations and rules of the road. Most trucking companies do a good job following the rules, but a significant minority do not – with deadly results.” Trucking Lawyer Bradley Pratt
While Dalton was released from the hospital, Gabe and Hinton are currently recovering from their serious injuries at CHOA.
77-year-old Newton Wilcox, who was driving a pickup truck, was also injured in the crash.
